Clinics
Antenatal/Postnatal - Our
Midwife holds a clinic on Tuesday Afternoon by appointment. Antenatal care is
shared between your doctor and the midwife.
Child Immunisation - Our Practice Nurses hold Baby
Immunisation clinic on Monday afternoon between 2.00 and 3.00pm. Appointments are usally sent directly
from Child Health Department in Dorchester; however, it is possible to ring the surgery for an
appointment.
Baby Weigh Clinic - Every second Monday afternoon a
baby weigh clinic is held by the health visiting team at the same time as the Immunisation Clinic.
Other Checks/Treatments
We believe that it is more convenient
for patients to attend the surgery for other checks and treatment at times
to suit themselves. All of the following are therefore by individual appointment:

Asthma Care
We encourage all asthmatic patients to have a full review
annually to review their symptoms, self-management and treatment.
Diabetic Care
All diabetic patients are regularly monitored and invited to
come for a full annual review yearly and a short interim review at 6 months. Care is sometimes shared with
the hospital or the Community Diabetic Nurse Specialist. Chiropody and dietary appointments can be
arranged at the practice. Our Practice Nurse, Melanie Brown, will also give advice on diet and
medication. Please call the surgery to speak to her for advice.
Cervical Smear Test
In line with National Guild line all women are invited to attend for
regular cervical smear test. The current guildlines now invite women from 24 – 50
years for 3 yearly testing and those over 50 years for 5 yearly testing. You
may request to see your GP or Practice Nurses, Rhonwen Tatchell or Melanie Brown.
Contraception
The practice offers full contraception services from routine
contraceptive pill prescriptions, emergency contraception, Depo-Provera contraception injections to the
fitting of a range of intrauterine coils. We do not fit Implanon contraception implants here at the surgery
but we can give advice and arrange for this to be done at the local Family Planning Clinic. Advice on
safer sex and confidentiality of pregnancy can be given.
Health Promotion Screening
All the practice team are committed to providing Health
Promotion Screening to patients. Please ask to speak to the Practice Nurses who will provide advice on
the most appropriate screening for you.
Minor Surgery
All GPs undertake minor surgical procedure here at the
practice such as skin biopsies and removal of minor skin lesions. Appointments may be made by arrangements
with your individual GP.
New Patient Checks
If you are new to the surgery please book an appointment with
the Practice Nurse or your GP for a New Patient Check. During this appointment we will discuss your
current health concerns and arrange for any ongoing medication to be continued.
New Patients aged 16-74
If you have not seen a doctor
within the past three years you are invited to have a health check at
the surgery.
