What to do if you require repeat medication urgently when the surgery is closed
If you have run out of your regular repeat medication there are a couple of options:
- Contact your usual pharmacy and speak to the pharmacist to see if they can offer you an emergency supply.
- Use 111 online, select ‘a prescription or medicines information’ then ‘get an emergency supply of my prescribed medicines’, select ‘start’ and answer questions accurately.
- Contact 111 who can advise of a local pharmacy that is open and offers ‘Pharmacy Urgent Repeat Medications Service (PURMS), take evidence of your repeat medication(s) to the pharmacy and the pharmacist will be able to give you up to 7 days supply.
The Electronic Prescription Service
The Apples Medical Centre is introducing an Electronic Prescription Service.
This Service is primarily aimed at patients who are not eligible to use the practice dispensary.
It is particularly suitable for patients who currently use a prescription collection service and who tend to collect their prescriptions from the same pharmacy each time. We will send your prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy, unless you inform us otherwise.
To nominate a pharmacy to receive your electronic prescriptions please inform the surgery dispensary or your pharmacy.
All patients who are not eligible for dispensing will have their prescriptions sent electronically. If you have no nomination this means that the patients prescription will go to the spine and the patient can either collect a token (printed once the prescription has been signed) or go to any chemist with their NHS number.
Please ask the Dispensary if you have any queries.
